Get to Know Us

The story started in the 1980s, when the only access to records was to go and read them. The documents seen sparked a interest into local and family history. Work commitments at the time look over for many years but that interest remained. We saw a lot of changes to the  access of records due to them being online. This also brought family history to our TV screens, it also gave us all easier access to records and the ability to build our own family story. We have worked for many years with many families to discover their story, we had struggled with the cost to the customer at the beginning we came up with £1 per person instead of a hourly rate. Also how we could take family and local history to the community. We took family history to a Dementia café it was a fantastic experience that we have continued. We also work with Schools to help to show how communities have changed and what part the young peoples families have played. Everyone has a history it doesn't matter who you are.
